I'm glad you - and many others - are finally starting to understand why this law is so dangerous.

Thanks to ALEC, the NRA, Teapublicans, and the far-right extremists who have now become the base of the GOP - and the Texas cowboy mentality of the governor (Jeb Bush) who signed the bill into law - Florida is just a few miles shy of a Banana Republic, in more ways than one.

Rachel Maddow did a segment on her show last night about things that will be permitted to be carried on one's person in Tampa during the GOP National Convention later this summer.

Name that dangerous object

Hey CLeve-
I've been saying this is a crazy law right from the start. Castle laws are just as bad however the difference is you are in your home protecting your turf.

The point here is this explains why Zimmerman was probably NOT even charged.
The stalking wasn't an issue
Carrying the gun wasn't an issue
Disobeying the 911 operator wasn't the issue
The size of each guy wasn't the issue
Race isn't the issue
Zimmermans confirmed injuries corroborate his story of self defense and gives him the right under Florida law to shoot his assailant regardless of age, size, race, gender, religious affiliation, political affiliations, and what have you.
The Police did their job Cleve and regardless of what anyone says each time they investigate an interracial killing it does not require state or federal oversight. They had a witness that said Trayvon was on top beating Zimmerman up Zimmerman admits to shooting Trayvon. And Zimmerman injuries are consistent with the witnesses description.
Case closed - regardless of race or gender or age.

In Florida (like some other states) if you feel threatened you can kill.
So there's no need for an investigation into the Sanford PD or claim racism
And any and all marches, protests and reward offers should be directed towards changing the law not lynching Zimmerman.
Funny that when the Police and others started leaking info about what they KNEW and the video showed Zimmermans head injuries and that Tray was on top was confirmed by an eyewitness how this story dropped off page one?

I still think Zimmerman is guilty of manslaughter but according to Florida law it doesn't matter if Zimms a racist, an agitated stalker or a gunslinger in a backwoods hick town - he followed the law.
That about right?

Best Regards

That's about right. The only time state or feds are needed is when the local LEO doesn't do their job or a coverup is suspected. I don't think anyone said anyone deserves special treatment - some groups/minorities just happen to have organizations that are dedicated to seeing that justice is served for "their kind" - because most often it is someone in a certain group/minority who was treated as "less than human" or provided unequal protection under the law.

There's a good article written by Reuters today that you might want to read - about how this whole thing started - and it's a pretty good synopsis of the incident and case thus far...

this case gets more bizarre every day.
Now we hear 2 things today:
Zimm's lawyers claim to be withdrawing saying they had NOT seen their client and couldn't verify what he looked like if they did see him.
And..............
There's reports circulating that Zimmerman contacted Sean Hannity without his lawyers knowledge.
That alone makes you GUILTY of something in my book - maybe stupidity?
This is as disturbing as Treyvons Mom trademarking stuff about her dead son........

Whats next?

Best Regard
