As I have asked many times - where's the PR from the Dems?
How many people have seen the graph of oil production increasing under Obama? Or jobs increasing?
The Dems do a horrible job against all the GOP politicizing that has taken place....
And as hard as the GOP is trying to lose the next election - I see very little from the Dem side to get excited about. Their base seems complacent.
The GOP for all it trials and tribulations is at least excited about being "anti-Obama"......

I basically said the same thing in an email I sent last week to my nephew who is a big-shot at Think Progress. He responded as expected; to paraphrase, “that’s not what progressives do”.
He’s right – and I understand this and how it does keep Dems on moral high ground. But my frustration in writing him to begin with was to question why they don’t go after the hypocrites in the GOP with the same sort of smear campaigns they have become so famous for.
I’m torn. One side of me says “fight fire with fire” and the other says “don’t stoop to their level”.
Granted, here at “MY” website I can say whatever I want – and especially because of the anonymous nature of the blogs, that often includes rhetoric that I would not normally say if I was a “responsible” journalist.
IMO, there are no more responsible journalists on the right. They have all turned into Rupert Murdoch rags and sensationalist gossip columns and smear machines. They can go on doing “their thing” and progressives should go on doing their thing.
If the GOP (or you) are proud of the hate and negativity they bring to the political discourse in America – and consider that a “plus” for their side - then I’d say that’s a pretty sad statement.
The GOP is nothing but empty suits – tools of the 1% and Big Business – and masters at deception and “sales” of a failed product. To go back to my favorite line – it is what it is.
All they know how to do is tear the opposition down. They have NO real plans, and promise no real future for America – other than upholding the status quo.
I’d like to think that this November voters will finally make it clear that they finally “get” the real agenda of the GOP. And there will be as much a backlash to being “fooled” by them in 2010 as there is happening in Wisconsin – a state that is the Koch Bros model for a government run by politicians bought and paid for by corporate interests alone. That blowback has come in the form of protests in the streets, rejection of the laws introduced and passed as unconstitutional in federal courts, and recall elections to overturn the mistake they made and return the government back to the people. There’s the perfect example of the results of a “mandate” won on a lie.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I think you are making too much an issue of the perceived enthusiasm on the part of Dems. Just because the GOP knows how to make more noise it does not mean they have greater enthusiasm or support. Virtually every poll shows Obama leading the race early on. Why should they pull out the big guns? The grass roots support for Obama and the Dems puts the GOP to shame.
One thing that is clear – Romney is running a negative campaign and will continue to do so – because that’s all he’s got. His “victory” strategy is to win by tearing down the other guy. He showed it in the GOP primary and he is showing it as he mounts his attacks on Obama.
By embracing this “winning formula” as mastered by “Bush’s Brain” (aka Turdblossom) Karl Rove, Mitt Romney is making it too easy to expose him as just another “anything goes” scoundrel. It is only so long that the American public will tolerate this type of campaign. It’s what turns voters off most, and it’s quickly reaching the end of its shelf life. There is only so long that a snake oil salesman can sell his wares without having to move on to a new town of suckers. And the snake oil salesmen of the GOP are quickly running out of space.
Romney Ad Exposes Media's Chronic Inability To Use The Word 'Lie'
Do you really think that ANYONE other than the “base” of the GOP likes to hear a campaign based on nothing but personal attacks and outright lies? Romney is the emptiest of these empty suits. Obama is not fighting back because he’s enjoying watching the GOP shoot themselves in the foot – again. He’s relying on his surrogates to expose the lies and letting these ads speak for themselves. By the time the campaign is in full swing in the fall, there will be a near unlimited choice of footage of these Romney lies for Obama’s surrogates to use against Romney - and to highlight the real character of this man whose only concerns ever in life have been to worship at the feet of his corporate masters and push the GOP dream of a Corporate Oligarchy.
Obama can then focus on getting his message, future plans, and progressive ideas out while reminding the voters of the many accomplishments of his first term.
This campaign is turning into a gift to Obama. It will be a battle between the haves vs. the have-nots. But that “class warfare” was not started by Obama and it is only being exasperated by Romney – Obama just happens to be the best leader for the troops who are finally fighting back. The GOP can continue to play stubborn and "stand their ground" by embracing such things as the Ryan/Romney budget plan, but they are only leading themselves down a dead-end path in the dark that ends at the edge of a cliff.
