If the Buffet Rule is so trivial you’d thing the GOP would go along with it just to prove their willingness to “work across the aisle”. It would go a long way in blurring the “We represent the 1%” label of the GOP. Ditto for all the other Dem proposals that show a 2/3 (or higher) approval of the voters. Instead, the GOP seems to think that they can win by reinforcing that (accurate) stereotype.

Until we can get "invisible" money out of our elections, and remove corporations as the puppet masters of Congress, we are doomed to continue the spiral down this rabbit hole.

Cleve-
The same could be said for the Keystone XL pipeline now that it's been re-routed in a much more evironmentally friendly route. (not that its friendly at all but it's much better for all involved).
I've been saying all along that it won't affect gas prices, it won't refine American oil(at first) and it will employ American refiery workers working on Canadain oil which will be shipped overseas.
But in spite of the huge increase in Americna oil being pumped, and the lowered amount of imported oil the GOP has convinced Americans - young and old, smart or dumb, that this Administration is losing the energy war and is at fault for high gasoline prices.
Keystone XL takes this talking point out of the picture AND could be used by future candidates as proof that increased drilling won't LOWER gas prices.

The other thing the Admin has "lost out" on is the failed theory that lowering taxes on the wealthy generates jobs growth. (this makes me want to wretch).
The GOP is convinced, and is convincing most Americans, that this is in fact, the case.
Boy I hope the Dems get fired up and come out to vote.....

Best Regards
Vog

And that's the way things are supposed to work. One side doesn't like parts of the plan and they make compromises. I have no doubt the pipeline will eventually get built. But it didn't have to be approved overnight. If corporations (and the GOP) had their way, the Titan Plant would probably be in operation by now spewing mercury dust in my back yard.

There is NO magic bullet (or even a loaded 6-shot full) when it comes to oil prices - and I wish the GOP would quit pretending otherwise. The "new" GOP House and state legislatures have been recklessly passing whatever legislation they can get through with very little thought of environmental, constitutional, or long-term economic or social problems that may result. As usual it's all about instant gratification and fast-money from the kickbacks they will receive.
